Recruitment studies

It is possible to submit applications to obtain permission to recruit SCAPIS participants to new research studies. The following applies:

  • The purpose of the study must align with the overarching SCAPIS research objectives.
  • Your project must offer collaboration to at least one researcher at each site from which you plan to invite participants.
  • In general, studies involving radiation exposure or interventions are approved on a restrictive basis. If your study includes such elements, they must be very carefully justified.
  • You should be prepared to return data collected in your study to SCAPIS.
  • You will be required to provide your approved ethics application. Particular attention will be given to the invitation letter.

Other conditions:

  • Applications are reviewed twice a year by the SCAPIS Data Access Board (June and December).
  • Applications must be submitted by the end of May or November, respectively.
  • The number of times the same participants may be invited to participate in a new study is limited to a maximum of 1–2 times per year, depending on the scope of the study.

SCAPIS is made possible through a collaborative effort between the following six Swedish universities and university hospitals. The main funder of SCAPIS is the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.
